This is the full 1 to 60 route in WoW Forever, stretch by stretch and by faction: which zones to level in, which dungeons fit and what changes along the way. Up to 30 you have all the detail in the 1 to 20 and 20 to 30 guides, which come from playing the beta. The beta doesn't reach 30 to 60 yet: that part is a map of the climb using the client's levels and Blizzard's official ones, and we will fill it in once it can be played.

In short: level in your faction's zones up to 20-25; from 30 on, almost everything is a contested zone, shared by both factions. Run a dungeon every few levels: Forever has nine new ones spread across the whole climb, from Hall of Thanes (13-18) to The Shaper's Terrace (58-60). At 25 the Legacy system opens, and its Talented perk brings your talent points forward. Not sure what to do at your level? Enter your level and class in What should I do at my level?.

What changes along the way

Level What changes
10 First talent point (or earlier with Talented). Plan it in the calculator
25 The Legacy system opens with your first point
30 Current beta cap. 21 talent points (26 with Talented)
55 With Talented maxed out you already have all 51 talent points
60 Max level. Raids from December 9 according to the roadmap

Since October 1, dungeon quests give half the bonus experience they did at the start of the beta, so the climb leans more on zones than on repeating dungeons.

The basics for leveling without wasting time

  • Fight enemies at your level or slightly below. Ones two or three levels above miss less, hit harder and make you stop to eat.
  • Visit your trainer every couple of levels and put the new ranks on your bars: almost every spell gains ranks along the way. Keep some gold for it before buying an upgrade you'll replace soon.
  • Your weapon is the upgrade you feel most, especially as a melee class. Check the new quests that reward gear in your zone.
  • Eat and rest well: crafted food gives bonus experience while you're well fed, the Cozy Sleeping Bag adds up to 3%, and the Legacy perk Well Rested stores more rested experience.
  • Group up for elites and dungeons: quest items dropped by enemies have bad-luck protection when you're in a group.

Your class guide

Every class has a guide with its level 30 talents explained in order, how each spec plays, which professions and races fit, and useful macros: Warrior, Paladin, Hunter, Rogue, Priest, Shaman, Mage, Warlock, Druid.

Before you hit 60

  • Legacy gives points for leveling: each class reaching 25, 45 and 60 is a challenge. The dungeons above count toward the three "Spelunker" challenges. How to get all 16 points with a single character is in the Legacy points guide.
  • Professions at the same time: crafting professions at 150, 225 and 300 also give Legacy points. What to buy to level them is in each profession's shopping list.
  • Gear: the new quests that give gear and the BiS for your class at every level.

What we still don't know

  • The 30 to 60 route in Forever. Zone levels come from the beta client, but the beta stops at 30: we don't know which new quests will be in those zones or whether Blizzard will change the layout. We will update it once it can be played.
  • Which zone the game sends Skyborne to when they leave Zephras.
  • The exact experience for each stretch. Wowhead retracted a story saying it had been lowered: it is still Classic's.

Frequently asked questions

What is the 1 to 60 leveling route in WoW Forever?

Your faction's zones up to 20-25 (Elwynn Forest, Dun Morogh or Teldrassil and then Westfall, Loch Modan or Darkshore for the Alliance; Durotar, Mulgore or Tirisfal Glades and then The Barrens or Silverpine Forest for the Horde) and, from 30, the contested zones: Arathi Highlands, Desolace, Stranglethorn Vale, Riverglades, Tanaris, Feralas, Un'Goro Crater, Felwood, the Plaguelands and Winterspring.

Which new dungeons are there while you level in WoW Forever?

Nine: Hall of Thanes (13-18), Ruins of Lordaeron (15-20), Excavation Site (26-31), City of Dalaran (28-33), The Drowned City (35-40), Krol'dok Stronghold (40-45), Alcaz Prison (48-53), Blackmaw Hold (55-60) and The Shaper's Terrace (58-60).

Can you level from 30 to 60 in the beta?

No. The beta reaches level 30 since October 1 and ends on October 21. From 30 to 60 you play from launch, on November 4.

How long does it take to reach 60 in WoW Forever?

Nobody has measured it yet, because the beta doesn't go past 30. The experience required is still Classic's, and since October 1 dungeon quests give less bonus experience.
