Addons for WoW Forever

Forever doesn't run on the Classic client, so the usual addon list doesn't apply. Here is what already has a beta build, what the game ships by default, what doesn't work yet and Blizzard's rules.

Addons that already have a Forever build

Each of these has a file published by its author for the Forever client (game version 1.60.1), with the date shown. We have not tested them one by one in combat: this is a beta and they may break between builds.

How to install them in the beta

Forever uses the modern game's UI architecture, not Classic's. That is why Classic Era addons won't load without changes, while Midnight addons port more easily.

CurseForge already lists the "Forever" game version (1.60.1): when downloading, pick the file flagged for Forever. WowUp supports it in its beta releases (2.24.0-beta).

The client interface number is 16001. If an addon shows as "out of date", its author hasn't declared that number yet.

By hand: unzip the addon folder into World of Warcraft/_classic_beta_/Interface/AddOns/. The path comes from addon authors, not Blizzard, and the launch path isn't known yet.

The ones that don't work yet

As of September 20, none of these has a Forever file. They aren't banned: nobody has ported them yet, or they can no longer do what they did.

AddonWhy
Questie (oficial)Forever support is under review on its GitHub, and its database doesn't cover the new quests.
Details! No Forever build. The game ships its own damage meter.
WeakAurasNo release since January 2026; the combat restrictions remove most of what it did.
ElvUINo file for Forever's interface and no announcement from its authors.
Bartender4 · OmniCC · TomTomNot updated for Forever. Edit Mode covers part of Bartender.
AtlasLoot Classic · NovaWorldBuffs · ClassicCastbarsNo Forever build. They target the Classic client and, according to authors already porting addons, won't load without changes. ClassicCastbars also depends on the combat log, which is now restricted.
GargulNo Forever build; besides, its GDKP mode would break the rules (Blizzard has banned GDKP runs).
Threat metersAddons that compute during combat cannot work under the new restrictions, according to authors already porting.

Blizzard's rules

Addons that make combat decisions for you aren't coming back. Blizzard is bringing Midnight's addon "disarmament" to Forever: combat data arrives protected and addons can't compute with it. Tim Jones and Mike Nuthals confirmed it to Kotaku.

"We did opt for the modern API approach", engineer Nora Mills said in the September 17 Q&A. In exchange, the game ships a damage meter and a Cooldown Manager, with a swing timer "perhaps coming soon".

GDKP runs are banned (Josh Greenfield: "the short answer is no"), so addons that manage them have no place.

There is no automatic group finder and no summoning stones: groups form through chat and the Classic-style LFG tool. We found no rule against group bulletin boards.
