ZONES · NEW ZONE

Riverglades

A new level 35-45 zone on the east coast of the Eastern Kingdoms, about the size of Stranglethorn: an area that was on the Classic map but unreachable, with nearly 200 quests for Horde and Alliance.

Levels 35-45

Lore

Years ago, human forces pursued retreating orcs into this land and, when help never came, the settlers built lives of their own on the frontier. Riverglades is a rugged land of rivers, grasslands, trade routes, struggling communities and old grudges, where humans, orcs, ogres, gnolls, goblins and murlocs all compete to survive. “This isn't a story about saving Azeroth, it's a story about living in Azeroth,” the team said. Gnoll camps, an ogre clan, the Twilight's Hammer, the new Powderfuse goblins and the Brotherhood of the Horse, a faction dating back to early Warcraft, all share the zone.

What we know

  • New reputations, new rewards and what Blizzard called “entirely new ways to progress” through leveling (not detailed).
  • Borders the Burning Steppes, Redridge Mountains, Swamp of Sorrows and the Badlands; a new fork on the Redridge road to the Steppes leads in (press).
  • Horde players start at Rogmar and Alliance players at Farhold Keep with the Brotherhood of the Horse (names spoken on stage, transcribed by press).
  • The Twilight's Hammer is felt in places like Sunnyglade, “a callback to Warcraft's history” (press).
  • Warcraft Wiki also lists Bolder'Ok, Kog'Mar and the Forbidding Sea (unofficial spellings).
  • Pitched as an alternative to leveling through Stranglethorn, with plenty of PvP encounters, per panel coverage (press).
  • Slides showed an ogre camp behind stone walls, a moonlit road and a walled town behind a wooden palisade.

What changes

  • The area was on the Classic map but inaccessible.
  • 150+ new quests per the What's Next recap; "nearly 200" per the Found Photos recap.
  • Connects to the Burning Steppes, Redridge Mountains, Swamp of Sorrows and the Badlands.
  • Its port, Powderfuse Port, is served by a Steamwheedle Cartel ship route from Tanaris.
  • New reputations and the Krol'dok Stronghold dungeon.
