Macros ready to copy, with spell names exactly as the game has them. Paste each one into a new macro and drag it to your bar. What a macro is and how to make one
Stances, forms and aspects
Maul in Bear Form
Intermediate · From level 10
Puts you in Bear Form (stance 1) if you aren't; already a bear, it queues Maul on your next swing without cancelling it on a second press. From level 40 Dire Bear Form replaces Bear Form: swap it in the macro if the game doesn't recognise it.
If you have no target or yours is dead, it picks the nearest enemy; then it attacks, shifts you to Bear Form if needed and queues Maul. For tanking without retargeting by hand.
If you're not in Cat Form, the first press shifts you and the next one attacks; the «!» keeps it from toggling you out. Shred from behind; hold Shift for Claw when you're facing the enemy.
#showtooltip
/startattack
/cast !Cat Form
/cast [mod:shift] Claw; Shred
Prowl without dropping it by mistake
Intermediate · From level 20
Shifts you into Cat Form and enters stealth; if you're already prowling it does nothing, so a double press won't break it.
#showtooltip Prowl
/cast !Cat Form
/cast [nostealth] Prowl
Back to your feral weapon and Cat Form
Advanced · From level 20
Pairs with the previous one: put your feral weapon in button 11 of the right action bar (MultiBarRightButton11). It equips it and shifts to Cat Form; with Shift, to Bear Form.
#showtooltip
/click MultiBarRightButton11
/cast [mod:shift] !Bear Form; !Cat Form
Rake in Cat Form
Intermediate · From level 24
The cat bleed with the same trick: shifts you into Cat Form if needed, then rakes.
#showtooltip Rake
/startattack
/cast !Cat Form
/cast Rake
Primal Bite in Bear Form
Intermediate · From level 25
Your bear threat attack, shifting to Bear Form if needed. Needs the Feral Combat talent Primal Bite.
Growl on mouseover, or Challenging Roar with Shift
Intermediate · From level 28
Pulls back an enemy that went for someone else without switching targets; with Shift, Challenging Roar makes everything nearby attack you for 6 s. Shifts you into Bear Form if needed.
Set the tank as your focus: the macro takes the tank's target and casts Moonfire on it, so you always hit what the tank hits. Without a focus it uses your target.
Shifts you into Bear Form if needed and charges: roots the enemy and interrupts its cast for 4 s. Needs the Feral Charge talent; the client says it requires Bear Form.
Drops your form and re-enters Cat Form in one press: shapeshifting frees you from movement-impairing effects and polymorph. Handy against snares and roots.
#showtooltip Cat Form
/cancelform [form]
/cast Cat Form
Cat: Cower and stop attacking
Advanced · From level 28
When you're about to pull aggro off the tank: with Shift it stops your auto-attack and casts Cower to drop threat. Without Shift, Cower and keep swinging.
#showtooltip Cower
/stopattack [mod:shift]
/cast !Cat Form
/cast Cower
Healing and support
Healing Touch on mouseover, leaving your form
Intermediate · From level 1
Drops whatever form you're in and heals whoever is under your mouse; with Alt, yourself. Moonkin Form can't heal, so you need to leave it.
Buffs whoever is under your mouse; if nobody, yourself.
#showtooltip Mark of the Wild
/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][@player] Mark of the Wild
Healing Touch with your healing weapon
Advanced · From level 1
Put your healing weapon in button 12 of the right action bar (MultiBarRightButton12): the macro leaves your form, equips it and heals your mouseover, your target or yourself with Alt. Weapon swaps work in combat but cost a moment.
With the boss targeted, it heals whoever the boss is attacking (usually the tank). If your target is friendly, it heals them; right-click the button to heal yourself.
One button to resurrect whoever is under your mouse: in combat it uses Rebirth (30 min cooldown); out of combat, Revive, which you learn at level 12 in Forever.
They use the modern game's macro syntax, which is what Forever runs underneath. We haven't tested them one by one in the beta yet: if one fails, tell us on the board.
A guide to choosing your class in WoW Forever if you're starting out: what each of the 9 classes does, which roles it can fill, what it asks of you, how it levels and what kind of player it suits. No "best class": the one that fits you. With a three-question quiz and a link to each class guide.
What the October 15 WoW Forever beta update brings: weapon specializations gone for humans, dwarves and orcs, new racials for tauren, Skyborne and trolls, raid-wide buffs, Arcane Blast reworked, Frost Blast for mages, paladin Salvation, weaker hunter pet abilities and the Horde out of Dalaran.
Blizzard's Classic+ launches on November 4. What changes from Classic: 469 reworked talents, the Skyborne, the Undead Paladin, new zones, nine dungeons and the raids — with the source next to every fact.
WoW Forever macro guide: how to make a macro, every command explained (#showtooltip, @mouseover, @focus, /castsequence, /startattack) and 336 copy-ready macros for the 9 classes, plus a macro builder.
