In short: when you reach 60 in WoW Forever you have five weeks until the raids open (December 9, 2026). Spend them on four things: gearing up with the pre-BiS from dungeons, quests and professions; getting the Onyxia attunement (the Drakefire Amulet) if you want the 40-player raid; building reputations that give level 58-60 rings and signets; and starting on honor and Legacy. This guide is a checklist, with a link to each tool.

1. Gear up: the pre-BiS

First, the pre-raid gear: level 60 dungeon pieces, quest rewards and crafted items. Our level 60 pre-BiS article has all 18 roles of the 9 classes, slot by slot, with where each piece comes from. The BiS tool lets you change level, role and faction, and save your list.

Two caveats on that list: the beta stopped at level 30, so for higher-level items we still use Classic numbers until we read the launch client; and the list is a calculation with stat weights per role, not a verdict.

2. Level 60 dungeons

These are the dungeons whose client level range reaches 60. Each name links to its row in the dungeon ladder, with bosses and loot. Boss by boss, with what drops and which role each piece is for, in the level 60 dungeon guide.

Dungeon Level (client)
Sunken Temple 44-60
Blackrock Depths 48-60
Lower Blackrock Spire 52-60
Dire Maul - East 54-60
Scholomance 56-60
Dire Maul - West 56-60
Dire Maul - North 56-60
Stratholme 56-60
Upper Blackrock Spire 56-60 (listed as a raid in the client)

The natural order is lowest level to highest, skipping whatever your role doesn't need. The group planner shows which classes cover tank, healing, dispel or crowd control at level 60. Forever has no multiple difficulties, so there is no "heroic" version to move up to: each dungeon is one dungeon.

3. Get ready for the December 9 raids

The three launch raids open on December 9: Barrow Deeps (10 players), Hyjal Summit (20) and Onyxia's Lair (40). Only Onyxia requires an attunement.

  • Drakefire Amulet. Every group member needs it; carrying it in your bags is enough. The chain differs by faction and both end in Upper Blackrock Spire, taking Blood of the Black Dragon Champion from General Drakkisath. Blizzard advises starting early and bringing friends for the elite quests. Step by step in How to get the Drakefire Amulet.
  • Fire resistance. Onyxia has three phases with fire attacks and Blizzard recommends arriving with it.
  • No stacked world buffs, no GDKP, weekly reset. What is already known about raid rules is in the raid guide.
  • Build and group. Lock in your build in the talent calculator and, if you're going to a 10 or 20-player raid, start gathering your guild.

4. Reputations that give gear at 60

Several factions have rewards from level 50 to 60. The ones marked new didn't exist in Classic. Each name links to its page with all rewards by reputation level.

Faction What it gives (level 50-60) Standing
The Watchers (new) Level 60 initiate's signets Friendly to Exalted
Theramore Expeditionary Force (new, Alliance) Level 58 rings and signets; level 50 and 60 gauntlets Honored and Exalted
Darkspear Raiders (new, Horde) Level 58 signet and pendant, insurgent's ring; level 60 spaulders Honored and Exalted
Brood of Nozdormu Level 60 Bronze Flight signets From Neutral
Everlook Level 50 pieces Friendly and Honored
The Defilers Level 58 talisman and belts Friendly to Exalted
The League of Arathor Level 58 talisman and belts Friendly to Exalted

The two new battleground factions (Theramore and Darkspear) are built by playing the Darkspear Islands; the rest through their quests and battlegrounds. All factions are in reputations.

5. PvP and honor

  • The Darkspear Islands are the new battleground, level 30 to 60 (15 vs 15; first to 2,000 points wins). You enter through the battlemaster in any capital.
  • Honor comes from defeating players, completing battlegrounds and PvP quests. It buys blue and epic PvP gear. Since October 1 the honor cap is 25,000.
  • Ranks (14 per season, no ranked PvP) go up with rank points, which come only from battlegrounds and PvP quests, with a weekly cap. Killing players in the world gives honor, but not rank.
  • Legacy: honor ranks 3, 7, 10, 13 and 14 give Legacy points.

The 14 ranks with their badges and rewards are on the PvP page. How world PvP works depending on your ruleset is in open-world PvP.

6. Legacy

Legacy is account progression: 65 challenges, one point each, and at launch each character can spend at most 16. With a single character you can collect up to 29. Reaching 60 already counts: the Classes category gives points for level 25, 45 and 60 with each of the nine classes, and Dungeons for defeating the final boss of every dungeon from 46 to 60.

Before the raids, spend the 16 points you have. How to reach 16 and where to put them is in Legacy points; the full list is in the Legacy system article; and to try spreads, use the Legacy calculator. The three raid challenges can't be earned before December 9.

7. Professions to 300

Professions go up to 300. Each has three camp objects, at skill 20, 140 and 300; the 300 one is the last. Also, reaching 150, 225 and 300 in a non-gathering primary profession gives Legacy points.

  • See which recipes and camp objects your profession has in professions.
  • Each profession's shopping list calculates which recipes to make and which materials to gather from your current skill to your target.
  • The camp planner lets you set up your group's camp before the raid.

8. The level 60 mount and gold

In Forever mounts cost far less than in Classic: 20 gold for level 40 mounts and 200 for level 60 ones, versus 80 and 1,000. Learning to ride costs 100 gold at level 40 and your first mount is free, according to Blizzard in the Sportskeeda interview. Every mount, with its price and how to get it, is in mounts.

To reach 60 with gold to spare, set aside the mount money first, then whatever the recipes you plan to craft need.

What we still don't know

  • Numbers for high-level items. The beta stopped at 30; until we read the launch client, higher-level items carry Classic numbers.
  • Bosses and loot of the two new raids. Blizzard has only given the count (8 bosses in Barrow Deeps and 13 in Hyjal Summit); names, loot and tier sets are not published.
  • The opening time of the raids on December 9.
  • Whether Onyxia's Lair changes mechanics or loot compared to Classic.
  • The cost of learning to ride at level 60. We only have the level 40 one (100 gold).
  • What exactly each honor rank gives at level 60 and when the first season starts.
