In WoW Forever the mage has a skill of its own, Comprehension, and with it a spell no other class has: Study. The beta client describes it like this: "Perform spell research, resulting in a bundle of scrolls. Requires a suitable library."
That bundle holds single-use scrolls: some imbue your weapon for an hour, some summon a familiar that gives you Intellect, and some cast one specific spell. Other sites call them "battlemage scrolls". Here are the 29 the client ships, with their official text.

The client does not say what counts as a "suitable library". It does ship two hints: the items Stormwind Library Card and Undercity Library Card, and a spell, Library Shelf, which "summons a shelf of books to a campsite, allowing it to function as a library. Requires a Campfire nearby." How you get the cards and the shelf is not recorded yet.
What comes out of the bundle
Wowhead has 36 recorded openings of the Bundle of Scrolls. That is a small sample: treat it as a hint, not as drop rates.

All of them are low level. The client's level 16, 25 and 46 scrolls do not show up in any recorded bundle yet: the beta caps at level 30 and hardly anyone has studied with a high-level mage.

Spellbreak: in the client this scroll still uses the same spell as Imbue Lesser Flame (up to +4 Fire). It looks like a placeholder, not its final effect.
The two scrolls that create a weapon
They are rare (blue) and bind on pickup:
- Scroll of the Saber: "Use on Blade of Silverlaine to create a powerful weapon."
- Scroll of Wit: "Use on Witchblade to create a powerful weapon."
Both resulting weapons are encrypted in the client: their name and stats cannot be read until Blizzard publishes them or someone gets one. Where these two scrolls come from is not known yet either.
The untranslated scrolls
Four scrolls have scrambled names, all level 1: Scroll: DOST OREM, FORGOT HOOF THUD, KEEP CLEF FOCI and RARE SERVICHI RADAR. Their description says "A Mage can decipher this with their Comprehension skill." You decipher them with Comprehend Scroll. What each one gives is decided by the server, not the client.
The Comprehension Charm ("Aids the translation of scrolls and spell notes") and the Scroll of Comprehension (+15 skill for one hour) help with that.
The library, for every class
Beyond the mage, there are two library quests for any class and faction. They start with Garion Wendell and are turned in to Owen Thadd or Garion Wendell, across Stormwind and the Undercity. On completion: "Thanks to your donations, the library is thriving."

Frequently asked questions
How do mages get scrolls in WoW Forever?
With Study, a Comprehension spell only mages have. Studying in a suitable library gives you a Bundle of Scrolls full of single-use scrolls.
What do the imbue scrolls do?
They enchant your weapon for one hour. Staff imbues raise Fire or Frost damage, lower resistances or add spell hit and crit. Dagger imbues chill, freeze or return mana. The sword imbue can reset Flame Blast.
What do mage familiars give?
A familiar that follows you for 60 minutes and raises your Intellect: the rat +2, the frog +6 and the cat +12.
What are the Scroll of the Saber and the Scroll of Wit?
Two blue scrolls that turn a Blade of Silverlaine and a Witchblade into a powerful weapon. The resulting weapon is encrypted in the client, so it is not known yet.
What do the library quests do?
Friend of the Library (level 20) and Greater Friend of the Library (level 35) reward book donations with a pendant, an amulet or a ring. Which books to donate is not in the database yet.
