If you bought the physical Collector's Edition of WoW Forever, the box probably won't be at your door on November 4. And the problem isn't the statue: the edition's digital code comes inside the box. Until it arrives, your account has no Skyborne race and none of the digital extras. Here's what you miss, how to play from day one anyway without paying twice, and what to do if something doesn't add up.

In short: to play WoW Forever you only need a subscription or game time; the box doesn't grant access to the game. What you lack without the code is the package contents: the Skyborne race, name reservation (October 27 to November 3), the mount, the cosmetics and the 30 days of game time. If you want them from the start, buy the digital edition in the Battle.net shop: when the box arrives and you redeem its code, Blizzard refunds what you paid as Battle.net Balance, as long as you redeem it before December 31, 2027.

When the box arrives

Blizzard's official store (the Gear Store) has two batches:

When you ordered Expected shipping
Before September 24, 2026 November 2026
On or after September 24, 2026 (restock) February 2027

Launch is November 4 at 3:00 p.m. PST, which is midnight on November 5 CET. The first batch "ships" in November: it might arrive just in time, a bit late or weeks later. The restock batch will certainly arrive after launch, and Blizzard says so in its announcement.

If you buy from outside the Americas: the Gear Store only ships the physical box to some countries in North and South America. In Europe the edition is sold in stores (the English-language restock reached the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand "depending on the retailer"), so the delivery date is set by the shop where you bought it.

Where the digital code is

According to the Gear Store listing, the Warcraft Forever Collection code (the digital part) comes in a separate envelope inside the box and is redeemed on Battle.net. It doesn't arrive by email beforehand. If you bought it from another store, check what its listing says: Blizzard's is the only one we've been able to verify.

What does arrive by email, apart from the box:

What When What for
Beta code After purchase, to the order's address Beta until October 21. Details in where the beta code arrives
Invite-A-Friend codes From October 20 So your friends can play free from November 4 to 11 (Pacific time)

What you miss until it arrives

Without the code With the code
Playing WoW Forever Yes, with a subscription or game time Yes
Skyborne race No Yes
Name reservation (Oct 27 - Nov 3) No Yes
Mount, outfit, pets and other cosmetics in the package No Yes
30 days of game time from the Epic pack No Yes
Warcraft III: Reforged and its campaign No Yes

If you're going to play one of the ten classic races and don't mind about the name, you miss nothing important: you log in on November 4 with your subscription and redeem the code when the box arrives. What's in the box is added to your account at that moment.

How to play everything from day one without paying twice

Blizzard covers this in its support article (36942): if you buy a digital edition in the Battle.net shop to enjoy what it includes sooner, when you later redeem the Collector's Edition code what you paid for that digital purchase is automatically credited back as Battle.net Balance.

The steps:

  1. Buy the digital edition you need in the Battle.net shop. If you only want the Skyborne race and name reservation, the Skyborne Heroic Pack ($29.99 per Wowhead) is enough, and the cheapest. If you want everything in the box right away, the Warcraft Forever Collection. Prices and differences in Is WoW Forever free or paid?.
  2. Play, reserve your name from October 27 to November 3 and create your Skyborne on launch day. Ideas in the name generator.
  3. When the box arrives, redeem its code on the same account. The balance is credited automatically.
  4. Do it before December 31, 2027. After that date there is no credit.

The fine print:

  • Upgrades aren't credited automatically. If you bought the Heroic and then paid for the upgrade to the Epic, the upgrade doesn't come back on its own: you have to ask Blizzard customer support.
  • Warcraft III: Reforged doesn't count. Owning it doesn't lower the price of the Collection, and redeeming the Collector's Edition doesn't refund what you paid for it.
  • The credit is Battle.net Balance, not money back on your card. It works for game time, other Blizzard games or the shop.
  • Redeem the code on the same account you made the digital purchase on. The credit is calculated on what that account bought.

If the code doesn't show up or something fails

  • The box doesn't arrive: shipping depends on the store. At the Gear Store, through its customer support with your order number. The Gear Store limits the edition to one per household and doesn't accept returns.
  • The code envelope isn't in the box: also to the store that sold it to you. With the beta code, Blizzard support warns that it doesn't replace lost codes; don't count on it doing anything different for the one in the box.
  • The code says it's already redeemed or doesn't work: check which Battle.net account you're logged in to. Blizzard doesn't help with codes redeemed on the wrong account.
  • The balance credit doesn't appear: if your digital purchase was an upgrade, that's normal (you have to request it). If not, open a ticket with Blizzard support citing article 36942.

Frequently asked questions

Can I play WoW Forever on November 4 if my Collector's Edition hasn't arrived?

Yes. WoW Forever runs on a World of Warcraft subscription or game time, not on the box. What you won't have until you redeem its code is the Skyborne race, name reservation and the package items.

Does the Collector's Edition digital code arrive by email?

Not at Blizzard's Gear Store: it's in an envelope inside the box. The beta code and, from October 20, the Invite-A-Friend codes arrive by email separately.

If I buy the digital pack now, do I pay twice?

No. When you redeem the Collector's Edition code, Blizzard automatically credits what you paid for the digital edition back as Battle.net Balance, as long as you redeem it before December 31, 2027. Upgrades from one pack to another have to be requested from support.

Can I reserve my name with the Collector's Edition if the box arrives late?

Only if you have a pack on your account during the reservation, October 27 to November 3. If the box hasn't arrived, buy the digital Skyborne Heroic Pack to reserve it; you get it back as balance when you redeem the box.

When does Blizzard ship the Collector's Edition?

At the Gear Store, orders placed before September 24 ship in November 2026 and later ones in February 2027. At European stores it depends on each shop.
